HOMESTEADING ATTACHMENTS AND IMPLEMENTS

Homesteading attachments and implements are job-specific tools that mount to your compact tractor, loader or utility vehicle to help you dig, move, mow, grade, clear and maintain your property with less manual labor. 

Homesteading attachments and implements take on the tasks on your acreage, including: 

• Moving dirt, gravel, mulch, feed and firewood 
• Clearing brush, downed limbs and storm debris 
• Planting and harvesting crops or garden areas 
• Grading drives, lanes and building pads 
• Digging post holes for fencing, trees and footings 
• Handling hay and palletized supplies 
• Cleaning barns, paths, lots and work areas

There are many homesteading attachments available. Typical homesteading attachments include:

To choose the right attachment for your homestead, start with your “most often” jobs and match the tool to your machine and terrain: 

• Everyday material handling: pallet forks or a bucket for feed, seed, lumber and supplies 
• Hay and livestock chores: bale spears for moving round or square bales and bale unroller for feeding 
• Brush and debris cleanup: root grapple and brush grapple for roots, brush and storm cleanup 
• Driveway and lane maintenance: box blade for reshaping and reconditioning 
• Planting or harvest work: tiller, disc harrow and middle buster 
• Smoothing and cleanup work: landscape rake for finish passes and debris collection 
• Post holes and planting: auger for fencing, trees and footings

Before you buy or rent, confirm attachment compatibility with your authorized Bobcat dealer – including hitch category or mount style, PTO and hydraulic requirements, attachment weight/width, and your machine’s lift capacity and ballast needs. 

To maintain attachments for long-term use, keep a simple routine year-round: 

• Grease pivots and pins on schedule (especially grapples, implements and moving joints). 
• Inspect cutting edges/tines/teeth and replace worn wear parts early. 
• Check hydraulic hoses and couplers for leaks, abrasion and damaged fittings. 
• Clean after corrosive work (salt, manure or fertilizers) and touch up paint to prevent rust. 
• Store on blocks or stands and keep PTO shafts covered and dry. 
• Tighten hardware periodically – vibration from rough ground loosens bolts over time.

Some homesteading attachments are interchangeable, but many aren’t universal. Attachment interchangeability depends on: 

• Mounting interface: loader quick-attach style or tractor hitch category 
• Hydraulic flow/pressure: for powered attachments 
• PTO type and horsepower: for PTO-driven implements 
• Lift capacity, stability and weight balance: ballast may be required
