Following a competitive tender against major equipment manufacturers, the Bobcat proposal stood out for its machine reliability and local service support.

Selected to tackle varied tasks across the terminal, the new fleet includes five electric forklifts and six diesel forklifts:
- Five Series 7 Plus electric forklifts: Four B25X-7 Plus models and one B35X-7 Plus model.
- Six diesel forklifts: Four D30S-9 models, one D35C-9 model, and one D50C-9 model.
Delivered in January 2026, all 11 machines went straight to work across multiple shifts and operators. They cover long travel distances across the terminal, handling continuous lifting, transport, and loading duties under demanding conditions.

Operating inside 3,000 m² and 500 m² warehouse facilities, the five Series 7 Plus electric forklifts deliver quiet, zero-emission performance without sacrificing power. Features such as regenerative braking and dual-drive motors ensure precise control and energy efficiency during fast-paced loading, unloading, and stacking routines.
Diesel Power for Demanding Heavy-Duty Tasks
Ranging from 3.0 to 5.0 tonne lift capacities, the six diesel forklifts handle heavy materials and continuous multi-shift demands. Most of these units support workshop maintenance operations, moving heavy components and bulky equipment needed to service airport and port lifters.
Additionally, a 5.0 tonne Bobcat D50C-9 diesel forklift operates within the port’s environmental waste management zone, moving big bags and containers efficiently to meet strict environmental compliance standards.
To maximise operator comfort, safety, and efficiency, the machines feature custom configurations, including fully enclosed cabs and automatic fork positioners.

La Nordica Macchine Srl has served the earthmoving industry since 1992, building on a family legacy started in the 1960s by founder Salvatore Chiaravalloti. As the exclusive Bobcat dealer for Calabria, the company expanded in 2022 by establishing La Nordica Service, a dedicated material handling division.
To ensure immediate, reliable response times for the Gioia Tauro port fleet, La Nordica partnered with Allera, an authorised 24/7 service workshop with more than 50 years of experience in port equipment maintenance.
Partnering for Long-Term Growth
“When entering the forklift sector, we created a dedicated division staffed by experienced specialists—led by Cristian Francesco Accardi, Commercial Manager of La Nordica Service,” said Guido Chiaravalloti, Managing Director of La Nordica Macchine Srl. “Bringing over two decades of material handling experience, Cristian played a decisive role in our growth. It allowed us to hit the ground running and secure a strong foothold across diverse industries.”
“Taking on the challenge of launching this business within La Nordica Group was an exciting opportunity,” added Accardi. “We structured our operations to extract the full value of Bobcat equipment, backing every machine with outstanding after-sales service. We are proud of what we have achieved in our first three years. Securing major contracts like Gioia Tauro confirms our growth and supports our ambition to become the primary material handling reference point in our region.”
