TOP SOIL CONDITIONER FEATURES
The Bobcat soil conditioner attachment (72") is designed for tasks like leveling ground, grading topsoil, tearing out sod, smoothing ruts and preparing ground for seeding and sodding. It uses a rotating drum with carbide-tipped teeth to rip through clumps and penetrate the soil, and you can lock the drum for a box blade effect when leveling and grading.
HOW TO CHOOSE SOD & TURF ATTACHMENTS
The right Bobcat® sod and turf attachment helps you build, repair and protect healthy turf without wasting time. Start with how fast you need coverage, then match the attachment to turf conditions, acreage and carrier.
Types of Work
Think about what you’re doing most often:
- New lawns and large reseeds: Building yards, sports turf or large green spaces from scratch.
- Improving existing turf: Relieving compaction, boosting root growth, and helping water and nutrients move deeper.
- Instant repairs and high-visibility areas: Patching or laying finished sod where “green today” matters.
Once you know the primary job, it’s easier to choose between a seeder, aerator or sod layer.
When to Choose a Seeder Attachment
Pick the seeder attachment when you’re putting down a lot of seed and want it to germinate quickly and evenly.
A Bobcat seeder places seed directly into the soil instead of broadcasting it on top. Bob-tach and rear rollers firm the seedbed and wrap soil around the seed for strong seed-to-soil contact and consistent emergence. With a large hopper and front or 3-point mounting options, it’s built for:
- New lawns and landscapes.
- Large overseeding projects.
- Acreages, farms and grounds where productivity per pass matters.
Choose it when you want maximum coverage and a professional seedbed in fewer passes.
When to Choose an Aerator Attachment
Choose the aerator attachment when you’re focused on improving the health of existing turf.
Mounted on an articulating tractor, the aerator opens the soil with multiple tines and closely spaced wheels to relieve compaction and let air, water and nutrients reach the root zone. Additional weights help drive tines deeper, and the rugged design is built for repeated passes across big properties. It’s a strong fit for heavily used lawns, sports turf, compacted campus grounds and golf courses.
When to Choose a Sod Layer
Reach for the sod layer attachment when you need an instant finished look or are doing a lot of sod handling.
The sod layer carries and lays rolls of sod while automatic spindle-arm brakes keep the roll controlled and a relief valve helps prevent compaction. It takes the back strain out of moving and placing sod and helps you:
- Lay sod fast on new builds and front entrances.
- Patch damaged sections without tearing up the site.
- Work safely with heavy rolls all day.
Choose it when “done today” and clean results matter more than grow-in time.
Quick Checklist
- Primary task: Seeding new turf, improving existing turf or laying finished sod.
- Timeline: Can you wait for seed to grow, or do you need instant grass?
- Turf size: Small patches, residential yards or large fields and campuses.
- Carrier: Loader, Toolcat™ utility work machine, compact tractor or articulating tractor.
- Turf condition: Bare soil, thin turf, compacted ground or damaged areas that need full replacement.
Once you narrow it down, your local Bobcat dealer can help match the right sod and turf attachment to your machine, acreage and schedule so your turf plan is ready to work from day one.
